2023 Quarter One Updates

“An organisation’s ability to learn, and translate that learning into action rapidly, is the ultimate competitive advantage.” –Jack Welch

THINK TANK COLLABORATION

In keeping up the great work! Congratulations are in order on our organisation’s partnership with Riara University. Enhancing digital literacy and online safety is becoming increasingly important as more and more individuals, particularly young people, spend more time online. It’s great to see organisations coming together to address these issues and work towards creating a safer and more informed online community.

The formation of a think tank is a great approach to tackling these challenges as it allows for the collaboration of experts from different fields to come up with innovative solutions. This partnership will lead to many positive outcomes and advancements in the areas of digital literacy and online safety.

SAFER INTERNET DAY 2023

Expanding our organisation’s training to Makueni County was a great step towards reaching a wider audience and making a positive impact in more communities. It was notable that our collaboration with TikTok in the participation of this year’s  safer internet day online safety activation with the county, and that the leadership of the governor H.E Mutula Kilonzo Jr. was involved.

As more individuals gain access to the internet, it’s important to educate them on safe and responsible online behaviour. Eveminet’s efforts to promote online safety and digital literacy in Makueni County will undoubtedly make a positive impact and help create a safer and more informed community.

It’s also great that this was the first out-of-county engagement for the new county government under the ICT, Education and Internship department. This demonstrates their commitment to promoting digital literacy and online safety in the region.

AFRICA SCOUT DAY CELEBRATIONS

Our organisation is a partner with the Kenya Scouts Association and was able to contribute to the Africa Scout Day celebration. The Scout Movement has a long history of promoting leadership, community service, and global citizenship among young people, and it’s great to see the focus on innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

Your organisation’s contribution on child online protection is incredibly important in today’s digital age. As more and more children have access to the internet and digital devices, it’s crucial that we ensure their safety and well-being online. By promoting safe and responsible use of technology, we can help create a better future for all. Keep up the great work!

EMBRACE EQUALITY – INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY #DigitALL

Our founder, Evelyn Kasina, was able to represent the organisation at the International Women’s Day gala dinner. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day campaign, #EmbraceEquity, emphasises the importance of creating a world where all individuals have equal opportunities, rights, and access to resources regardless of their gender. This is especially important in the field of technology, where women have historically been underrepresented.

The United Nations’ theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” highlights the potential of technology to drive progress towards gender equality. This includes promoting access to digital technologies and ensuring that women have the skills and opportunities needed to fully participate in the digital economy. By embracing equity and promoting innovation and technology, we can work towards a more just and equitable society for all.

CHILD ONLINE PROTECTION TRAINING – PARENT UNPLUGGED

Equipping learners and parents/guardians with digital literacy and online safety skills is incredibly important in today’s digital age. In our organisation’s core mandate  we were able to provide physical training to 1545 learners, including 20 persons with disabilities, and trained 412 parents and guardians.

By promoting safe and responsible use of technology, we can help create a better and safer online community. It’s important to ensure that everyone has the necessary skills to navigate the internet safely and protect their personal information. Evemient’s continuous efforts to provide these training will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the lives of those who are trained and their families.

We are committed to transforming the lives of families by equipping children, parents and guardians with tools and skills to help them make technology work for them!

WHAT WOMEN WANT

This must have been the summit of the month, well planned, well attended, amazing speakers, great impact and wow …. Eventful.

What Do Women Want? Safe spaces, clarity of mind and direction, empathy, understanding, belonging and information. What did we offer? Clarity, Mindset change, Consciousness and belonging. I did not only share my wealth of knowledge on online safety but I learned about bridging generational gaps to have understanding, closure and prediction. I came out of the session with courage and the right vocabulary to engage on the sex topic with my children and learners. I was edified and gratified.

Impact is made possible by our existence and our deliberate and consistent actions towards promoting online safety. We are committed to equipping YOU with skills and tools to enable you make technology work for your family.
